Hotel Gansevoort Re-Inforces Pledge to Community
viaMichael Lindenbaum of the Hotel Gansevoort:
Recognizing our 30-day commitment to the community to remedy the fan noise, we wanted to provide you with an update on what Hotel Gansevoort is doing, as is it important to us to remain in good standing with the community. To that end, on Tuesday, May 6th – based on the advice of our engineering team — we will be implementing the first of two plans. The first will be reducing the amount of intake power for the fan and replacing the blades (the earliest date possible based on the manufacturing schedule of the new blades). If by Wednesday this does not produce an acceptable level of noise reduction, we have already spent the money, ordered the parts and hired the labor for the second option. We will update you after the initial work on Tuesday and will notify the community should a second round of work be needed.
We thank you for your continued patience and ask that you bear with us this week as we make necessary improvements. Our goal is to rectify the problem so that we can all enjoy the neighborhood. Please feel free to call me if I may be of further assistance 212 660 6724.

I’m glad to hear from the Hotel (thanks for responding Michael), though I’m rather disappointed that the work is only beginning on D-Day of the 30-day promise…ordering parts notwithstanding. That said, my greatest hope is just simply that the noise goes away and we all live happily ever after, and I can return to the Hotel Gansevoort and eat those amazing cheesecake lollipops without guilt…
I too am disappointed that this problem has not yet been resolved. At first I believed that the efforts of the hotel were genuine. Now I don’t. Some months ago they told me they were manufacturing new parts. Then they said that didn’t work. At the meeting they said the problem would be fixed in 30 days. I doubt it. Should we organize some protests in front of the restaurant and hotel?
What a great idea! Let’s get people out and picket with signs on Saturday night! Maybe we can make as much noise as that exhaust!
