Can you hear what I hear?
So I’ve been out of town and am today blogging from the wastelands north of our little village, nonetheless, the question on my mind is: has the Hotel Gansevoort noise ceased?
I know that the work started yesterday and continues today and the both the owners and Mr. Chodorow were on the property as they personally committed to a timely resolution.
According to Michael L of the Hotel G:
“The intake of air is being reduced and the fan blades are being replaced. We are cautiously optimistic that the level of noise will be reduced significantly from the combination of these strategies. I have also been informed that the protective bird screen has been removed as well.”
So, clue me in before I trek home late, late, late tonight…. is still like JFK out there?

Ok – I walked by the Gansevoort Hotel today. I saw that they did something to the slats in the offending vent. It actually looks like someone took a hacksaw and just went at it. The noise is reduced – now it sounds like a strong wind instead of an airplane. I doubt it violates the standards of the DEP.
I would ask others to take a listen and see what they think. I’m afraid I’ve become so sensitive to the noise that I can’t be objective anymore.
