Do you wish you too could live on Horatio Street? Have your dreams of moving from a studio to a one-bedroom been frustrated by your refusal to ever leave your beloved street? Fret no more . . . . for there are a bunch of horatio street properties on the market…

from Warburg Realty, a hip, crisply renovated studio at 61 Horatio, with the coolest Murphy/Table design I’ve ever seen, and didn’t a certain Tony-award winning actress once reside there?

from Nathaniel Siegal, a small studio at 12 Horatio with a lavish kitchen (ooh, stainless appliances, and a granite countertop) and the most bee-yoo-tiful south and east views. (the Van Gogh, dahling, the Van Gogh)

from Corcoran, the beautiful, historic townhouse at #51 will have an open house this Sunday, April 30th. It is listed at 5 MILLION DOLLARS. Just FYI, that translates to a monthly mortgage payment of 28k.

from the Owner, a jumbo (compared to mine its jumbo) studio at 82 Horatio Street, with tin ceilings, oak floors, a brick fireplace and a roomy kitchen.

Happy House Hunting!

Well, you can peek into two Horatio Street apartments listed on Corcoran’s website (which, by the way, have me drooling). The first, at #2 Horatio is a penthouse duplex with 360 degree views of our fair glitty and an AMAZING terrace. Wowsa.

And the second,at #72 Horatio, finally offers a glimpse into an extraordinary renovation of the former horse stable. They call the one-bedroom a grand entertaining space, I call it intense eye candy.

Former 92 Horatio Street studio owner John Fetterolf used to rent his humble abode by the night as a bed-and-breakfast to out-of-towners. For years, he would meet his guests, let them in the building, and explain the rules: they must pretend to be friends, old college buddies, for example, should anyone ask. He was allowed to have friends stay, but short-term leases were a no-no. Last year, the co-op board found out about his covert bed-and-breakfast and took him to court, forcing him to sell the apartment. While he’s disappointed that he no longer has that $1500/month profit and trendy nyc apt, he’s not too unhappy with the 230k he made in the sale.
Of course, now I’m starting to wonder about the apartment on the third floor. I always suspected illicit activities, but all those young girls posing as nieces had my mind on a different track altogether. To be honest, if it were just a covert b&b, I think I’d be relieved.
